Our Expertise

At Medina I Morgan, we focus exclusively on representing people whose lives have been altered by catastrophic injury, medical negligence, and institutional abuse. Our practice is built on meticulous preparation, selective case intake, and the level of advocacy typically reserved for the nation’s largest defendants. We take on matters where the harm is life-altering and the defendants are powerful– hospitals, universities, religious institutions, police departments, corporations, and property owners.

Although we just started our own firm, we’ve handled hundreds of complex personal injury and institutional abuse cases during the course of our careers, helping to secure over $500M for clients with our previous firms. Below are examples of the types of matters we have successfully resolved:

  • School District Sexual Abuse: Represented students abused by a district employee. Discovery uncovered ignored red flags, inadequate supervision of the offender and his interactions with students, and nonexistent training of school and district personnel to detect and report warning signs, resulting in a substantial confidential settlement for each survivor.
  • Church Abuse – Failure to Supervise Clergy: Represented multiple survivors abused by clergy members with documented histories of abuse. Through discovery, we obtained key admissions and internal records demonstrating the institution’s knowledge and failure to act in the face of credible reports of prior inappropriate activity with minors.
  • Sexual Assault in the Employment Setting: Represented women who were sexually harassed and assaulted after work happy hours. Investigation revealed that the perpetrator had a known history of engaging in sexually-inappropriate behavior but that his employer turned a blind eye to the warning signs, resulting in a confidential settlement for each survivor.
  • Medical Neglect in Prison Setting: Represented the estate of an incarcerated person who died as a result of both private and governmental prison operators’ collective failures to afford the detainee adequate medical care while incarcerated, resulting in separate confidential settlements with the federal government and all private prison operators.
  • Police Pursuit – Bystander Catastrophic Brain Injury and Death: Represented innocent bystanders struck during a high-speed police chase conducted in violation of department pursuit policies. Investigation revealed that the departments had a history of engaging in reckless pursuits with previous injuries but failed to correct their past mistakes or implement adequate training. The matter resulted in a confidential settlement for all plaintiffs.
  • Medical Malpractice – Anoxic Brain Injury and Death: Represented the family of a man whose doctors failed to timely identify and treat developing septic shock, which resulted in an anoxic brain injury, months of extreme pain and suffering and, ultimately, death. Discovery revealed that the doctors made damning statements about their liability, and the case confidentially resolved for a high seven-figure sum.

  • Medical Malpractice – Failure to Diagnose Infective Endocarditis: Represented the family of a man who presented to his physician with symptoms that were indicative of infective endocarditis, which is a life-threatening infection of the heart. The man’s doctors initially diagnosed him as having a common infection and sent him home. His condition deteriorated and he ultimately died due to the failure to appropriately intervene sooner. The case resulted in a confidential seven figure settlement.

  • Civil Rights – Failure to Prevent Suicide: Represented the family of a pretrial detainee who committed suicide while in custody. A trial centered on civil rights claims related to the prison and medical staff’s failure to appropriately administer antidepressant medication to the man. The result was an 8-figure jury verdict in a notoriously conservative venue.

Medina Morgan Catastrophic Injury Attorneys

Our Process

Every case begins with understanding your story. Whether you are coping with life-changing injuries or seeking accountability for institutional abuse, we take the time to learn what happened, how it has affected you, and what you need to move forward. From day one, our team works to secure critical evidence—medical records, expert evaluations, witness statements, internal policies, surveillance footage and video evidence, internal emails and text messages, and any other materials that reveal how an accident or incident occurred and where an institution failed in its duty to protect.

We build each case with long-term impact in mind and always prepare as if the case is going to be tried. We work with leading medical specialists, life-care planners, and vocational, psychological, and economic experts to build a damages’ picture that shows the full scope of your physical and emotional injuries. That level of preparation puts pressure on defendants and insurers, ensuring you are positioned for the strongest possible resolution—whether through meaningful settlement or a verdict at trial.
